Last change to see Christmas Cards

I am hanging onto Christmas a little to tightly. It is time to let go. I loved all the Christmas cards we got this year. Being newly married you get stuff addressed to Mr. and Mrs. Brey. It is very exciting. I sure it will get old some day but until then I look forward to all married mail kind of stuff.

Next year I will make room for more!

Goodbye Christmas Decorations

It was a wonderful first married Christmas. We are very grateful to our families who gave us plenty of grace and kindness. We look forward to many more Christmases with new traditions and lots of decorating! Not looking forward to de-christmasing the burrow.

We are now on instagram

How to build a new Fireplace

Our home sweet home was missing it home-i-ness until the fireplace was done. Its hard to remember our once, outdated and awkward, floating mantle with bathroom tiles to adorn our wood burning fireplace. I believe we removed the old look the first day of demolition.

Here is a look at once was....

David and Dan removed the white tile that made up the hearth. The golden glass doors were tossed to the garbage heap.

We took the surrounding tile and whoops took the drywall with it.

We replaced the wall with concrete board
Then we let it sit for awhile (4 months)

We bought slate tiles with lots of orange and gray!

We rented a tile saw.
Getting ready to cut

Half size tiles to make the alternating pattern

David loves to tile so I let him just have at it.

David used spacers to evenly place tiles

Now to wait for the mortar to dry

Come Stay with us!

Our guest has finally been de-boxed, de-cluttered, and decorated. We are ready for guests. Our second bedroom has gone through quite a makeover. What was once a white, gray carpet, dingy second bed is now a guest/office/craft space. As many of you know extra rooms can be used to put the stuff no one knows what to do with. Our poor second bedroom was used in this fashion for quite some time. It also didn't have heat so we really only went in there to add more stuff to the pile of stuff we didn't know what to do with. A couple weekends ago I went to a class on organizing and got inspired. I organized all those do-dads and knick-knacks, hung pictures and curtains. So come on over we are ready to have sleepovers.

A very comfy bed

I do not have to shorten these
