One of the biggest problem we knew had to be fixed was the awkward closet. Let me describe it to you ...when you walk in you have the option of going up to the kitchen or down to the bedrooms. As soon as you get to the top of the stairs there is a floating closet in the middle of the room. Just hanging out not doing anything. Pretty pointless and very much in the way of an open room concept we were going for. So the closet had to go. We knew it was going to be one of the first things we would need to change before we go do floors or ceilings or anything. Demolition was scheduled for the first day.
Step 1: Make a peep hole
Step 2: Blast through dry wall (thanks Dan Brass)
Step 3: Man out the wood frame
Step 4: Pull out the 2x4's by hand
Step 5: Voila No closet
Check out the hole in our ceiling
Once your door has been safely removed the question remains...what to do with all of those hanging light switches, thermometer box, and vent tube well... you ask your husband to re-rout them. So dear husband watched some youtube videos and figured it out.
