Who needs an licensed electrician?

When the closet was completely ripped out and all the insulation dust had cleared we had the dilemma of moving all the electrical that was on the closet walls to the adjacent wall by the kitchen. Very simple in theory. Just cut a hole in the wall where we want new switches, hang wires, and then connect them.

For the electrical and the thermometer we bought things that I have never purchased before in my life: new work boxes (not called "new" because we just bought them), 50 feet of 14 gauge romex (copper wire that is surprisingly expensive as $$*&%), junction boxes, wire nuts, conduit, and Budweiser (full fat none of that light crap). Husband estimated 2-3 hours to re-rout everything. For the most part I stayed out of this except for words of affirmation and encouragement.

I am fairly certain the process began with turning OFF the electricity. Then I taped and labeled all the existing wires before David cut them from the existing switches. Some more cutting and connecting of wires happened. He also spent some time in the attic yelling about how hot it was up there. Then there was a moment of panic when something exploded and sparked! We thanked the Lord David lived and doubled checked that the power was really off. During this time our friend Brent came over and pretended to work but he bought us pizza which made up for it. Thanks Brent! 8 hours later all the light switches and the thermostat worked, except for one that only switched on and not off. We called it a day and David fixed it the next day. Check out out fancy control panel that turns on the kitchen light, the fan, the hall light, and the therm. Oh and did I mention David also added a fan box, that one didn't exist before we got there. Who needs an electrician when you got youtube, determination, and pizza on you side.
